Tallow FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
What makes your tallow skincare different?
We’re truly farm-to-jar. Our tallow comes from animals raised on our farm (and occasionally from trusted neighboring farms), our herbs are grown here, and our honey comes from the hives on our farm. Every product is made by hand, in small batches, with full transparency from start to finish.
Where does your tallow come from?
Our tallow comes primarily from animals raised on our farm. When needed, we also source from a small number of neighboring farms we know and trust, who raise their animals to the same standards we do. All tallow is rendered by us in small batches using traditional methods. We never source from bulk suppliers or feedlots.
Do you make everything yourselves?
Yes. From rendering the tallow to infusing herbs and pouring each jar, every step is done in-house by us. We don’t outsource production, white label products, or resell wholesale brands.
What does “small batch” mean?
It means we make limited amounts at a time, using what our land and animals provide. Small batch allows us to focus on quality, freshness, and care instead of speed or volume.
Why does sourcing matter with tallow?
Tallow reflects the health of the animal it comes from. By raising our own animals—and working only with neighboring farms we trust—we know exactly how the animals are cared for and what goes into our products from start to finish.
Why does my balm look or feel slightly different than the last one I bought?
That’s the nature of real, whole ingredients. Seasons change, animals change, and plants change. We don’t use fillers or synthetic stabilizers, so small variations are normal and expected.
Is all tallow skincare the same?
No. How the animals are raised, how the tallow is rendered, and whether products are mass-produced or handmade all make a difference. We choose to keep our process simple, traditional, and close to home.
Why do people choose your products?
Most people come to us because they want honest skincare made with real ingredients from a real farm. They like knowing exactly what they’re putting on their skin—and where it comes from.
Can I learn more about your farm or process?
Absolutely. We love talking about the farm and how our products are made. You can find us at local markets, follow along on social media for behind-the-scenes looks, or reach out anytime with questions.
If you visit us at a local market, you’ll notice the little calf on our banner hanging behind us. Tell us his name (Jack!) for a free gift.
We believe skincare should be simple, honest, and made with natural ingredients—from our farm to your skin.
