About our Tallow
Tallow FAQ
Where does your tallow come from?
Our tallow comes from animals raised on our own farm. When we need more than we can produce at a time, we work with a small number of neighboring farms we know personally and trust. The animals are pasture-raised and cared for with respect, because good tallow starts with healthy animals.
All of our tallow is rendered by hand, in small batches, using traditional farm methods. We don’t use feedlot sources or bulk suppliers.
Why tallow?
Tallow is a traditional farm ingredient that’s been used for generations. It’s naturally rich, nourishing, and closely matches the oils found in healthy skin. Carefully rendered tallow creates a simple, effective base for natural skincare—without fillers or unnecessary ingredients.
Do you make everything yourselves?
Yes. From rendering the tallow to infusing herbs and pouring each jar, everything is made here on the farm. We work with whole ingredients and make each product by hand, start to finish.
What makes your tallow skincare different?
We keep things close to home. Our tallow comes from our farm, our herbs are grown here, and our honey comes from our own hives. We make small batches so we can stay hands-on and true to the process.
What does “small batch” mean?
Small batch means limited amounts, made with what the land and animals provide. It allows us to focus on quality, freshness, and care rather than speed or volume.
Why does sourcing matter with tallow?
Tallow reflects the life of the animal it comes from. By raising our own animals and sourcing only from trusted local farms, we know exactly where our tallow comes from and how it’s handled every step of the way.
Why does my balm look or feel a little different?
Real ingredients change with the seasons. Because we don’t use synthetic stabilizers, colors, or fillers, small variations in texture or appearance are normal—and part of working with natural farm-raised ingredients.
Is all tallow skincare the same?
No. Animal care, rendering methods, and whether products are mass-produced or handmade all matter. We choose a traditional, small-farm approach that keeps our tallow clean, simple, and nourishing.
